    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
    List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
    1 Board Meetings: Foundation existence began on February 20, 2014. From the date of inception thru 12/31/15, the directors have conducted several board meetings during the year by conference call to address foundation goals, investment decisions, and the overall operations of the foundation. Introduction of the Karpel Foundation's formation and mission statements have also been addressed at various speaking engagements during the current tax year. In addition, trainings specific to the operations and tax reporting requirements of private operating foundations have been attended during the year. 1,434
    2 The Board of Directors attended its first annual Board Summit whereby the purpose was to discuss, review and evaluate the results of a survey which was conducted during the current year. This survey consisted of randomly selected criminal justice agencies. The purpose of the survey was to determine the current average time and cost factor to bring a criminal charge to disposition which would serve as a benchmark of successes and/or need for improvement by participants for all future grantees of the foundation. The board's duties included the evaluation of the survey and the avialable research to determine the direction of activities to be conducted in the future by the Karpel Foundation. 1,509
    3 In October 2015, the Karpel Foundation awarded its first grant to a district attorney's office for the acquisition of scanners. As a result, this office now converts its criminal information to digital form which certainly expedites many processes related to criminal filings. 840
