	Transportation - Over the last 50 years, our country has built roads and bridges at a pace and scale that dwarfs most of the rest of the world. We've built a national highway network like no other, with more than 45,000 miles of interstate highway and 575,000 bridges. Now, much of that system is showing its age. But with ribbon cuttings more politically enticing than maintenance, most spending goes towards new and wider highways rather than repair. Through advocacy, public education, research, grassroots organizing and policy development, we're working to encourage public transportation and mass transit solutions to reduce traffic congestion, decrease America's oil dependence, and ensure that our roadways are operated in the public interest.

	Public Health & Health Care - One in three school age kids are overweight or obese, yet our government is wasting $16 billion each year on subsidies for sugar-laden, high-fat foods. U.S. PIRG is callimg for an end to subsidies for junk food. Using the tried methods of public education, research and policy development, we're working to promote a more competitive health insurance marketplace that lowers costs for consumers as our leaders put the health care reform law into practice.
