Explanation:

The failure to file a timely return is due to the following reasons: change in management structure resulting in unassigned duties and a major systems conversion diverting attention of upper management. The Credit Union maintains a calendar of filing deadlines for federal, state, and local authorities but the deadline for the 990 was based on the filing deadline of the 990T November 15, 2016. The Credit Union has taken the following steps to insure the 990 is not filed late: corrected the calendar, assigned duties within job descriptions, and engaged with accounting firms requesting proposals (including but limited to Doeren Mayhew and Financial Standards Group) to file the 2017 990 and 990T.
