What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? To promote professional interests of members; improve treatment, rehabilitation, and care of persons with mental disorders; advance standards of psychiatric services & facilities; promote research & education in psychiatry; promote best interests of patients and those making use of mental health services; and to advocate for its members.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Annual Meeting achieved the following:(a) Oklahoma Psychiatric Physicians described recent changes affecting the practice of psychiatry as internally driven by the profession and externally imposed by regulators,(b) provided a forum for examination of mental health care related issues and the advancement of science & medicine; (c) supported mental health professionals in fulfilling their responsibilities to advance with the newest technologies toward the goal to improved patient care, (d)promoted public awareness of access to information about the prevention, treatment and management of mental illness through patient & public education.

29 Special Events Programs provided the following: (a) The Healthcare Reform Program provided psychiatric training,vital information in new services for psychiatric patients, and practice management issues which emerged with changes caused by Affordable Care Act. (b) The Oklahoma Council for Child & Adolescent workshop presented new and innovative models in pediatric and adolescent mental health treatment and explored ways of advocating for child and adolescent psychiatric patients.

30 Psychiatric Training & Advocacy: (a)The OPPA paid registration fees for two psychiatric residents in training to attend the Annual Meeting. The Residents were chosen by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to present to the convention a scholarly work which they researched and wrote during their psychiatric residency training.(b)The OPPA paid registration for the President-Elect and a Councilor-at-Large to attend the APA Advocacy Workshop. The workshop provided advocacy training in communicating and partnering with legislators to effect changes in mental health laws & policies necessary to help their state excel in a statewide system for the mentally ill rather than just meeting the immediate crises of the mentally ill. (c) It also provided DSM5 Training.
