ACVIM is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people through education, training and certification of specialists in veterinary internal medicine, discovery and dissemination of new medical knowledge, and increasing public awareness of advances in veterinary medical care. 	Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine (JVIM): The mission of the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine is to advance veterinary medical knowledge and improve the lives of animals by publication of authoritative scientific articles of animal diseases. As an online, open-access publication, JVIM provides an international forum for communication and discussion of the latest developments in large and small animal internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, and oncology. In 2016 JVIM published 233 articles. JVIM has a 5-year impact factor of 2.242 which ranks them at number 12 out of 133 veterinary journals as monitored by the Institute for Scientific Information. JVIM had a 28% increase of full text downloads.

	ACVIM Board Certification: Achievement of ACVIM Board certification status includes an elite category of dedicated veterinarians who advance the science of veterinary internal medicine though personal commitment, experience, and knowledge. ACVIM is recognized as the specialty college responsible for establishing training requirements, evaluating and accrediting training programs, and examining and certifying veterinarians in the specialties of Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Large Animal and Small Animal Internal Medicine. In 2016, ACVIM had 237 approved residency training programs, 216 candidates take the general exam and 186 candidates take the specialty exams, with 153 candidates becoming ACVIM Board-certified Diplomates.

	The ACVIM Forum is the veterinary profession's premier internal medicine continuing education event. Veterinarians and technicians from more than 45 countries participate with the leading practitioners and educators in veterinary internal medicine with interactive sessions, State of the Art Speakers, Research Abstracts, and Post-Graduate Courses. The Forum presents lectures that are delivered by respected specialists covering the most relevant topics in veterinary medicine, provides access to the most recent and yet to be published leading-edge research, and encourages networking opportunities with the best and brightest in the veterinary industry. ACVIM had 3,360 attendees at the 2016 Forum, with 53 interactive sessions (including 4 technician workshops), 415 scientific sessions, 273 research abstracts (both oral and poster presentations), and 399 speakers.
