| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d Description of other program services | (Expenses $ 765,691 including grants of $ 765,691) In addition to the above, the Foundation provided approximately $765,300 in funding to support other programs of its affiliates, St. Vincent's Medical Center and St. Vincent's Special Needs Services. During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2016, approximately $306,100 of this funding was released to its affiliate, St. Vincent's Medical Center, to subsidize the cost of various Medical Center programs for which there is no other available funding source. One of these programs is the Irma D'Addario Wellness Booth at the Medical Center. During FY2016 the Wellness Booth provided free blood pressure checks and blood sugar and cholesterol screenings. The Foundation also helped subsidize the Integrative Oncology center; Diabetes and Pancreatic symposiums; our "Women at Heart" care club (for heart-related diagnosis, education and treatment specifically for women); and provided free public lectures on prostate cancer and free prostate screenings for at-risk men. The Foundation also subsidized the Hope Dispensary of Greater Bridgeport which provides short-term and long-term medication assistance to eligible patients (where a majority of patients are below the 200 per cent Federal Poverty Level). During FY 2016, the Foundation released approximately $242,900 in support to St. Vincent's Special Needs Center. This support primarily assisted in providing adaptive equipment and toys, as well as capital items such as classroom furniture, to assist Special Needs in its mission of care. This funding also provided enrichment activities, such as class field trips and other outings, to the clients of Special Needs Center. An additional $216,000 in funding to these affiliates was provided from Employee giving campaigns conducted at St. Vincent's Medical Center and St. Vincent's Special Needs Services. St. Vincent's is committed to reaffirming its outreach to the vulnerable and medically underserved. This commitment is shared by its employees who have generously contributed year after year to the Employee Giving Campaign. This campaign provided assistance to families who were in dire need of food, bedding, and clothing. This fund also assisted families who were at risk of becoming homeless or required emergency assistance with utility bills. |
