FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A EXHIBITIONS ANDY AND KOSTI LINDA BEAN FOLKERS GALLERY, WYETH CENTER MAY 30 -NOVEMBER 1, 2015 THIS EXHIBITION EXPLORED THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN FELLOW ARTISTS ANDREW WYETH (1917-2009) AND KOSTI RUOHOMAA (1913-1961). BOTH WYETH, AN ACCLAIMED PAINTER IN THE REALIST TRADITION, AND RUOHOMAA, A SUCCESSFUL DOCUMENTARY AND COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER, FOUND IN MAINE INEXHAUSTIBLE SUBJECTS FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE ARTS, AND IN PARTICULAR WERE CAPTIVATED BY THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ITS PEOPLE AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT. THROUGH A SHARED ARTISTIC VISION AND A COMMITMENT TO DOCUMENTING TRADITIONAL VESTIGES OF AN ISOLATED WORLD ON THE VERGE OF CHANGE, THEY EXPRESSED THEIR PASSION, DEDICATION, AND LOVE OF MAINE AND THE PEOPLE WHO CALLED IT HOME, CREATING ICONIC DEPICTIONS OF RURAL MAINE LIFE. THE WYETHS, MAINE, AND THE SEA MARYLOUISE TANDY COWAN GALLERY, WYETH CENTER REOPENED MAY 30, 2015-JANUARY 3, 2016 THE ART OF THE WYETHS N.C., ANDREW AND JAMIE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THEIR FAMILIARITY WITH AND FASCINATION FOR LIFE ALONG MIDCOAST MAINE, REACHING BACK TO N.C.'S DECISION TO BRING HIS FAMILY TO THE AREA IN 1920.
