Return Reference	Explanation
Part X, Line 2:	The Federation, since inception, has qualified under Section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code to be a tax-exempt organization and is generally exempt from income taxes pursuant to Section 501(a) of the Code. As such, the Federation is subject to federal income taxes only on any net unrelated business income under the provisions of Section 511 of the Internal Revenue Code. Activities, such as the Federation's advertising revenue and publication revenue, as considered unrelated business income for reporting with the IRS. The Federation's policy is to evaluate the likelihood that its uncertain tax positions will prevail upon examination based on the extent to which those positions have substantial support within the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations, Revenue Rulings, court decisions and other evidence. The Federation has determined that it is subject to examination for the federal income tax filings in the United States for the previous three tax years. In the event the Federation is assessed penalties and/or interest, penalties will be charged to other operating expenses and interest will be charged to interest expense. It is the opinion of management that the Federation has no uncertain tax positions.
