Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c	House corporation board members may not serve on both the advisory board and the house corporation board. Separation of duties is a key financial control. Having as many checks and balances in place assists in contributing to the financial health of the chapter and house corporation board. In addition, the financial controls help protect Chi Omega volunteers. It is a best practice to not serve on an alumnae board when a relative or close personal friend is a current member or soon to be potential new member of the collegiate chapter. If an alumnae board member is aware of a relative who is going through recruitment, it is encouraged for the board member to step down from the board at least a year prior to the women going through recruitment. As alumnae members, we respect the right of our collegiate chapters to make their own membership decisions. House Corporation Boards have the opportunity to use many vendors and hire a variety of employees to meet their needs. The House Corporation Board should not use vendors or hire staff that are directly related to house corporation board members, advisory board members, and chapter members. Hiring independent vendors and employees allows the house corporation board to ensure they are keeping the chapters' best interest in mind.
