THE STUDENTS IN OUR PROGRAM REFLECTED THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF MIAMI. STUDENTS CAME FROM ALL OVER MIAMI-DADE COUNTY WITH CONCENTRATED ACTIVITY IN LITTLE HAITI, LIBERTY CITY LITTLE HAVANA, AND WEST MIAMI-DADE. OF OUR STUDENTS, 64% ARE BLACK, NON-HISPANIC, 32% ARE HISPANIC, AND 4% WERE WHITE/OTHER. 76% OF PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS CAME FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. DURING THE 2015-2016 SEASON, MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT SERVED 421 STUDENTS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. EACH STUDENT RECEIVED ON AVERAGE 308 HOURS OF CLASSES MEANING MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT PROVIDED CLOSE TO 130,000 HOURS OF PROGRAMMING TO YOUTH ACROSS MIAMI-DADE COUNTY. OVER THE YEAR, MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT REACHED NEW HEIGHTS: -MMP STUDENTS WORKED WITH RENOWNED AND NOTABLE GUEST ARTISTS, INCLUDING CONDUCTORS JAMES JUDD, STEPHANE DENEVE, AND MAXIMIANO VALDES, COMPOSER AVNER DORMAN, NEW WORLD SYMPHONY FELLOWS, AND MUSICIANS OF THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA. -THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PASSED A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION HONORING MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT AS A PROVIDER OF "RELEVANT, RIGOROUS AND INNOVATIVE ACADEMICS." -BY SPECIAL INVITATION FROM MAYOR TOMAS REGALADO, MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT STUDENTS PERFORMED AT THE HISTORIC FREEDOM TOWER DURING THE CONSULAR CORPS CHRISTMAS PARTY. -"I AM MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT" AWARENESS CAMPAIGN APPEARED ON 100 BUS STOPS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. -SENIOR STAFF LED PRESENTATIONS DURING THE NATIONAL TAKE A STAND SYMPOSIUM IN LOS ANGELES. -EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANNA PIETRASZKO CONTINUED TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF EL SISTEMA USA - A NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF EL SISTEMA-INSPIRED PROGRAMS. -MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE INCREDIBLE THINGS INDIVIDUALLY. AN ALUM RECEIVED SILVER KNIGHT AWARD HONORABLE MENTION. A STUDENT SECURED A SPOT AT SPHINX PERFORMANCE ACADEMY IN DETROIT. ANOTHER STUDENT WON A SCHOLARSHIP AND ATTENDED THE NEW ENGLAND MUSIC CAMP. -MULTIPLE STUDENTS SUCCESSFULLY AUDITIONED FOR AND ATTENDED THE NATIONAL TAKE A STAND FESTIVAL AND PERFORMED AT THE ASPEN MUSIC FESTIVAL AND BARD COLLEGE IN NEW YORK. MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT WAS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH ALL OF THIS WHILE REMAINING FISCALLY SOUND AND RESPONSIBLE. ALL ACTIVITIES WERE FULLY FUNDED THANKS TO GENEROUS DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, FOUNDATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS. MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT'S MARKETING OBJECTIVES SUCCEEDED IN INCREASING PRESENCE VIA DIVERSIFICATION, GRASSROOTS MARKETING AND MULTIMEDIA AWARENESS. WE MARKETED IN OUR CHAPTERS' SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES BY DISTRIBUTING INFORMATION AT SCHOOLS, CHURCHES AND COMMUNITY CENTERS. MEDIA PRESENCE IN TRADITIONAL/NON-TRADITIONAL OUTLETS TARGETED LOCAL AND NATIONAL MARKETS. MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT RECEIVED PLACEMENTS IN CBS MIAMI, ALMA MAGAZINE, ESTADAO, AND MIAMI NEW TIMES. EMAIL MARKETING CONSISTENTLY DISTRIBUTED NEWS TO 6650+ SUBSCRIBERS. SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORTS WILL INCLUDE THE PURCHASE OF AD WORDS, STUDENT HIGHLIGHTS, MORE VIDEO CONTENT PLUS EXPOSURE FROM HIGH PROFILE EVENTS SUCH AS THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY SIDE-BY-SIDE PERFORMANCE AND TAKE A STAND FESTIVAL. PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY HELPED MARKET FREE PERFORMANCES TO ITS MEMBERS. |
