	The Classified School Employees Association (CSEA) maintains a negotiated agreement with Jefferson County Public Schools. The agreement is reviewed annually to protect and enhance the rights and benefits of the classified employees. Throughout the year, CSEA protects the negotiated agreement and works with the school district to resolve contractual disputes and issues.

	The CSEA protects employee rights by representing employees in disciplinary meetings and hearings. If the CSEA Grievance Committee determines that an employee's rights have been violated, a formal grievance is initiated and processed.

THE PRESIDENT of the association IS AN EMPLOYEE OF JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND RECEIVES A W-2 AND ALL BENEFITS FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE ASSOCIATION REIMBURSES THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AT AN AGREED UPON RATE FOR THE RELEASE TIME PROVIDED FOR THE PRESIDENT. During the year ended August 31, 2016, the association reimbursed the school district a total of $79,015 for Nancy McCanless. This amount is included on Form 990, Part IX, Line 11G.
