OVER 400 PEOPLE ATTENDED A SPECTACULAR NIGHT OF AWARDS, DINNER, AND DANCING TO CELEBRATE THE ATTIC AND TO RAISE FUNDS FOR US AS WE MOVE INTO OUR NEXT CHAPTER. 2) EDUCATION LAW CENTER HONORED THE ATTIC AS AN OUTSTANDING CHAMPION OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AT ITS GALA IN SEPTEMBER 2018 RECOGNIZING OUR COMMITMENT TO THE LGBTQ YOUTH OF PHILADELPHIA AND LONG HISTORY OF PROVIDING LIFE- CHANGING PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES. 3)FORTY-FIVE YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN A PAID SUMMER SERVICE LEARNING INTERNSHIP AT THE ATTIC IN WHICH THEY EXPLORED DIFFERENT WAYS TO TELL THEIR PERSONAL STORIES BY USING PLAY WRITING, POETRY, PODCASTING, AND VISUAL ARTS TO DISCUSS REAL-WORLD ISSUES FACING YOUTH TODAY AS WELL AS WAYS IN WHICH THEY CAN ADVOCATE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. 4) THE ATTIC PROVIDED HUNDREDS OF LGBTQ YOUNG PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS AND HOUSING INSTABILITY WITH SUPPORT. THE ATTIC ALSO IS ONE OF TWO ACCESS POINTS FOR THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, WHERE YOUNG ADULTS AGES 18-24 CAN BE CONNECTED TO HOUSING SERVICES. 5) THE ATTIC EXPANDED JOB AND INTERNSHIP PLACEMENTS FOR YOUTH IN THE COMMUNITY BY 25%, AND SUPPORTED YOUTH IN MAINTAINING THEIR EMPLOYMENT. 6) THE ATTIC WAS INVITED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA TO TRAIN ALL NEW TEACHERS AND GUIDANCE COUNSELORS ON HOW TO CREATE AFFIRMING SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS FOR LGBTQ YOUTH. THE ATTIC ALSO TRAINED ALL NEW JUVENILE JUSTICE STAFF AT PHILADELPHIA'S DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES ON HOW TO BEST SERVE THE LGBTQ YOUTH IN THEIR CARE. YOUTH OUTCOMES IN 2018, YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN THE FOLLOWING ATTIC PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: 1) 289 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. 2) 215 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMMING. 3) 310 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN HIV PREVENTION PROGRAMMING AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING HIV COUNSELING AND TESTING. 4) 107 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN HOMELESS PREVENTION AND REMEDIATION SERVICES. 5) 178 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMING. 6) 232 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMMING. 7) 167 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. 8) 90 YOUTH WERE CONNECTED TO HOUSING. 9) 185 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDED OVER 2,000 INDIVIDUAL, COUPLE, AND FAMILY COUNSELING SESSIONS. 10) OVER 75 GROUPS OR ORGANIZATIONS AND OVER 3,000 PEOPLE RECEIVED TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS ON THE BEST PRACTICES IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF LGBTQ YOUTH. PROGRAMMING OUTCOME MEASURES THE ATTIC CONSISTENTLY EVALUATES ITS PROGRAMMING IN EFFORT TO ASSURE THAT EACH YOUTH WHO PARTICIPATES IN ATTIC SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES GROWS AND THRIVES. OVER TIME, THE ATTIC HAS FOUND THAT CONSISTENT PARTICIPATION IN ATTIC PROGRAMMING LEADS TO: 1) INCREASED POSITIVE BEHAVIOR/PERSONAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. 2) INCREASED SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL COMPETENCIES (E.G. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, ADAPTABILITY, TEAMWORK). 3) INCREASED LEADERSHIP CAPACITY (E.G. PUBLIC SPEAKING, GROUP FACILITATION, ADVOCACY). 4) IMPROVED LITERACY, STUDY SKILLS, AND ACADEMIC COMPETENCIES. 5) IMPROVED JOB ACQUISITION SKILLS. 6) INCREASED 21ST CENTURY SKILLS (E.G. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LITERACY, CRITICAL THINKING, CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION, ETC.). 7) IMPROVED SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.
