Explanation

Part X, Line 2

The Association is considered exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the Association and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if it has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service. Based on this review, no reserves for uncertain tax positions were required to be recorded or disclosed for the years ended December 31, 2018 and 2017. The Association is subject to routine audits by taxing juristictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. With few exceptions, the Association is no longer subjuect to income tax examniations for years preceding Decemeber 31, 2014.
