What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Encouragement of organized rifle and pistol shooting among citizens of the United States resident in Fort Dodge, IA, with a view toward better knowledge on the part of such citizens of the safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as improved marksmanship. It shall have the further object and purpose to forward the development of those charecteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self discipline, team play and self reliance which are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Provide Indoor and Outdoor Shooting Facilities: The Rifle & Pistol Club of Fort Dodge provides shooting ranges for its members, as well as the Fort Dodge (city) Police Department, the Webster County Sherriff's Department, the Iowa Highway Patrol and the (local) State of Iowa Correctional Facility. These groups must occasionally shoot to comply with firearm qualification requirements. The club also provies this service free of charge to these law enforcement agencies. The club also allows the Webster County 4-H Club, free of charge, monthly use for training and instruction of proper and safe gun handling and shooting procedures. Annual Gun Show: Once a year the club puts on a weekend gun show to the public at a local rented facility with space for approximetly 150 tables. Club members, collectors and dealers reserve tables to display items for sale. THe show is very well attended by local citizens as well as from many of the surrounding counties. The purpose of this activity is to provide income for operation of the club and to help cover the construction cost associated with the newly remodeled indoor shooting facility. Club Store: The CLub possesses and maintains a Federal Firearm's License (FFL). One board member does the ordering and performs the duties and requirements of record keeping to maintain the FFL. The club purchases firearms, ammunition, reloading components and shooting accessories as needed or desired by the club members. This activity does not financially support the club, as all items are purchased and sold at cost to its members. However, sales tax is collected and rendered as required to the State of Iowa.
