IN CARRYING OUT THIS PURPOOSE, THE ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON THE DANGERS OF CASINO GAMBLING AND, IN PARTICULAR, THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH CASINO GAMBLING. IT ENCOURAGES CITIZENS TO CONTACT THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ON OPPOSITION TO THE EXPANSION OF GAMBLING. FINALLY, IT OCCASIONALLY ENGAGES IN DIRECT LOBBYING IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS MISSION.

	The organization devotes the vast majority of its time and resources to educate the public about the social and economic problems associated with any expansion of gambling in Florida. During 2018 we continued outreach through online advertising and social media promotion to inform the public of legislation that would expand gambling and asked them to contact their state legislators to oppose such legislation. Through this outreach and through grassroots lobbying outreach to Florida legislators, we were successful in defeating this harmful legislation that sought to expand gambling in Florida. We also continued our efforts on behalf of the constitutional amendment initiative that will further our mission of fighting the expansion of gambling in Florida. The initiative is called the Voter Control of Gambling amendment and it seeks to establish that Florida voters, not politicians will have the ultimate authority to authorize gambling in our state. Through lending our expertise and resources to this effort, we secured ballot placement for the Voter Control of Gambling Amendment as Amendment 3 on the 2018 ballot in Florida. Following ballot placement, we continued to lend our expertise and resources to the grassroots campaign, which resulted in the amendment receiving 71.5% of the vote statewide.
