| Form 990, Part VIII, Line 7: | The organization received $4,000 payment from a member cutting hay. The grass on the campground requires upkeep therefore the organization received payment for the removal of hay. The proceeds from the sale of hay were reinvested in other exempt function property. The organization received a payment in the amount of $13,907 from the USDA Conservation Reserve Program for maintaining wildlife areas around the campground. The Organization uses the funds to establish and maintain conservation practices by planting grasses, legumes, forbs, shrubs and tree species that will improve environmental health by preventing soil erosion, improving air and water quality, enhancing wildlife habitat, restoring wetlands and establishing shallowwater areas for wildlife. Preserving the grasslands and wildlife is aesthetically pleasing to the campground and members and therefore is part of the exempt purpose of the organzization of maintaining the common properties with the protection and maintenance of its natural beauty and wildlife for its members. A 501(c)(7) organizaiton is entitled to exclude gain under section 512(a)(3)(D) of the Code from the sale of any property used directly in furthering its exempt purposes if the proceeds are reinvested in property within a period beginning 1 year before the date of such sale and ending three years after such date. The timber, hay and conservation payments are used diretly in furthering the organization's exempt purpose by being reinvested in maintenance of the land and other exempt purpose property. |
