LEADERSHIP FROM THE TALLAHASSEE AND GAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENTS CAME TO OBSERVE CLASSES BEFORE SCHEDULING THE PROGRAM IN THEIR AREA. 200 HOURS OF SURVIVOR TESTIMONY CAPTURED AND DIGITIZED SINCE THE HOLOCAUST WAS A SERIES OF ATROCITIES INFLICTED BY PEOPLE ON PEOPLE AND A MATTER OF GREAT MORAL AND ETHICAL SIGNIFICANCE, IT IS CRUCIAL THAT THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE OF THE VICTIMS BE TOLD IN THE FIRST PERSON SO THAT IT MAY BE AT LEAST PARTLY UNDERSTOOD. IN 2017, THE FHM HOSTED NAZI PERSECUTION OF HOMOSEXUALS AND, IN THE SPRING OF 2018, RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL PUBLICITY FOR THE EXHIBITION OF OPERATION FINALE: THE CAPTURE AND TRIAL OF ADOLPH EICHMANN, WHICH EXPLORED RECENTLY DECLASSIFIED ARTIFACTS AND IMMERSIVE MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS THAT REVEALED THE SECRET HISTORY BEHIND THE CAPTURE, EXTRADITION, AND TRIAL OF ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST NOTORIOUS WAR CRIMINALS. THIS FALL, THE FLORIDA HOLOCAUST MUSEUM WAS CHOSEN, ALONG MUSEUMS IN NEW YORK, CHICAGO AND LOS ANGELES, TO PREMIERE THE FIRST NARRATIVE VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST, THE LAST GOODBYE. TEACHING TRUNKS AND OUTREACH EDUCATION THE MUSEUM HAS BEEN IN 637 SCHOOLS, EXPOSING 72,215 CHILDREN TO THE CONCEPTS OF UPSTANDER BEHAVIOR, THE RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF LIVING IN A DEMOCRACY, AND SPEAKING OUT AGAINST INJUSTICE. SPEAK UP SPEAK NOW IS AN OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL-AGED STUDENTS THAT ALLOWS THEM TO EXAMINE THE CONCEPTS OF IDENTITY, BYSTANDER/UPSTANDER BEHAVIOR, PREJUDICE, STEREOTYPES, PROPAGANDA AND MORE. THE ANNE FRANK HUMANITARIAN AWARD PROGRAM HONORS OUTSTANDING HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS BY HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN PINELLAS, PASCO, HILLSBOROUGH, SARASOTA, AND MANATEE COUNTIES. PRINCIPALS AND GUIDANCE COUNSELORS RECOMMEND STUDENTS FOR THIS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD WHO HAVE MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO BETTER THE LIVES OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. THE FLORIDA HOLOCAUST MUSEUM SENDS TEACHING TRUNKS CONTAINING GRADE- APPROPRIATE SETS OF BOOKS, CDS, DVDS, LITERATURE-BASED CURRICULUM, LESSON PLANS AND OTHER INSTRUCTIONAL AIDES TO FLORIDA SCHOOLS UPON REQUEST AT NO CHARGE. THE TEACHING TRUNKS HAVE REACHED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS IN THIRTY-NINE COUNTIES THROUGHOUT FLORIDA. TEACHER TRAININGS THE FHM WORKED WITH 811 TEACHERS THIS YEAR, TOUCHING THE LIVES OF MANY MORE STUDENTS THROUGH THE EDUCATION OF THEIR TEACHERS AND ASSISTING WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STATUTORILY REQUIRED INSTRUCTION ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST (CHAPTER 1003.42).
