What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The Project Management Institute (PMI) is the leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project management profession. Our professional resources and research deliver value for more than 2.9 million professionals working in nearly every country in the world to enhance their careers, improve organizational success and further mature the profession. Our worldwide advocacy for project management is reinforced by our globally recognized standards, certification program, extensive academic and market research programs, chapters, and our volunteer and professional development opportunities. PMI offers eight certifications that recognize knowledge and competency, including the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification held by more than 750,000 practitioners and growing worldwide. PMI offers PM training, access to library and research on best practices in project management.

28 The Augusta-Aiken Chapter of the Project Management Institute provides members with various professional development opportunities. This includes books, webinars and other educational materials. In 2018 the Augusta Aiken Chapter hosted a professional development day providing over 100 attendees opportunities to hear best practices in leadership, strategy and business management, and technical project management. Through-out the year, the Chapter provides numerous training courses to help attendees to prepare (or maintain) certifications. These training sessions were attended by 100+ members and guests.
