DURING SUMMER AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS, FULL DAY CARE IS PROVIDED AT 15 SITES INCLUDING BRANCH FACILITIES. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, CHILDREN EXPERIENCE A STRUCTURED, SAFE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY ARE ENGAGED IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ARE PROVIDED ASSISTANCE WITH HOMEWORK. THIS POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT FOSTERS THE LEARNING OF THE Y'S CORE VALUES OF CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND FAITH. IN 2018, 7,504 CHILDREN WERE SERVED IN AFTER SCHOOL AND DAY CAMP PROGRAMS. YOUTH SPORTS & AQUATICS - PARTICIPANTS FOCUS ON PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AS A SPRINGBOARD FOR BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE, LEADERSHIP, POSITIVE FAMILY VALUES, TEAMWORK AND APPRECIATION OF THE BENEFITS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. AGES 3 THROUGH 17 PARTICIPATE IN SOCCER, FOOTBALL, T-BALL, BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, VOLLEYBALL, BASKETBALL, TENNIS, SWIM TEAMS, SWIM LESSONS, AND FREE SWIM. CHILDREN PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS AND AQUATICS ALSO BENEFIT AS THE Y INSTILLS OUR FIVE CORE CHARACTER VALUES INTO OUR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. IN 2018, 34,479 CHILDREN WERE SERVED IN YOUTH SPORTS & AQUATICS PROGRAMS. RESIDENT CAMP - AT YMCA CAMP FLAMING ARROW, A VARIETY OF OUTDOOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES ARE PROVIDED THROUGH OVERNIGHT CAMPING EXPERIENCES IN THE HILL COUNTRY. IN 2018, YMCA CAMP FLAMING ARROW SERVED 1,012 KIDS THROUGH SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMPING. |

THROUGHOUT 2018, 125,918 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED THROUGH HEALTH & WELLNESS ACTIVITIES OFFERED AT THE Y'S 11 FULL SERVICE FITNESS CENTERS THROUGHOUT SAN ANTONIO AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. UTILIZING CARDIO, STRENGTH AND WEIGHTLIFTING EQUIPMENT, ROCKWALLS, SWIMMING POOLS, GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES, NUTRITION WORKSHOPS, PERSONAL TRAINING/COACHING, HEALTHY COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS, AND FITNESS ASSESSMENTS/SCREENINGS, MEMBERS ARE ABLE TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES IN SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. THROUGH OUR Y LIVING PROGRAM, FAMILIES EXERCISE AND LEARN TOGETHER WITH OTHER FAMILIES TO IMPROVE THEIR OVERALL WELLNESS AND ESTABLISH LIFE-LONG DISCIPLINES FOR HEALTHY LIVING. THE Y LIVING CENTER ALSO OFFERS PROGRAMS AIMED AT PREVENTING CHRONIC DISEASE SUCH AS THE Y'S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM WHERE 357 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN 2018. THROUGH THE Y'S ACTIVE OLDER ADULT PROGRAM, SENIOR ADULTS REMAIN PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, AND SOCIALLY ACTIVE THROUGH STRUCTURED GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES AND SOCIAL EVENTS. THE Y ALSO HOSTS SICLOVIA, A SEMI-ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENT WHERE PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO GET ACTIVE AND PLAY IN THE STREET. A SAFE, CAR-FREE STREET IS OPENED FOR PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLISTS TO ENJOY HEALTHY, FUN ACTIVITIES FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. APPROXIMATELY 60,000 TO 80,000 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN EACH EVENT IN 2018. |
