DANCE GROUPS PERFORMING WERE THE LATVIAN ADULT FOLK DANCE GROUP "PERKONITIS," THE CHILDREN'S GROUP, AND THE "VERSELICA" INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE GROUP FROM ST. OLAF COLLEGE. THE "COMPASS ROSE BRASS ENSEMBLE" PROVIDED STILL ANOTHER, DIFFERENT MUSICAL SOUND. THERE WERE MANY AND VARIED LATVIAN CRAFTS EXHIBITS, CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES, SOUVENIRS FOR SALE, AND LATVIAN FOOD TO SAMPLE. THE ESTIMATED CROWD OF 700 ENJOYED THE AFTERNOON'S FESTIVITIES, BECOMING MORE FAMILIAR WITH LATVIANS AND THEIR CULTURE. |

RAIMONDS GRAUBE (RET.), VISITED THE LATVIAN COMMUNITY IN THE TWIN CITIES. HE STARTED HIS MILITARY CARRIER IN THE LATVIAN NATIONAL GUARD, EVENTUALLY BECOMING ITS COMMANDER. WHEN LATVIA JOINED THE NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO) AND THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU), HE WAS APPOINTED TO POSITIONS IN THESE ORGANIZATION AND SERVED UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT, ACQUIRING EXPERT KNOWLEDGE. OVER 100 PEOPLE LISTENED TO HIS PRESENTATION, HYBRID WARFARE, DURING THE LATVIAN SCHOOL AND THE PRESENTATION IN THE CHURCH HALL AFTER THE CHURCH SERVICE. GEN. GRAUBE EMPHASIZED THAT RUSSIA STILL TRIES TO EXERT STRONG INFLUENCE AND PROPAGANDA IN THE WORLD, ESPECIALLY IN COUNTRIES IT FORMERLY HELD UNDER COMMUNIST CONTROL, SUCH AS IN EASTERN EUROPE AND THE BALTIC STATES. SINCE HIS RETIREMENT, GEN. GRAUBE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE LATVIAN DEFENSE AND PATRIOTISM FUND NAMEJS, WHICH RAISES FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE ARMED FORCES VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES., 2, EXPENSES 1,019, GRANT REVENUE 2,030 MARCH 25, THE MUSICAL GROUP "IMANTA-DIMANTA AND FRIENDS" A GROUP OF FIVE SINGERS FROM LATVIA FORMED IN 2014 AND IS MAKING IT'S 9TH STOP OF THEIR 18 -CONCERT TOUR IN AMERICA. THE FIRST CONCERT PART CONSISTED OF ORIGINAL SONGS THAT THEY CALLED A "POST-FOLK" STYLE. THE SECOND PART CONSISTED OF TRADITIONAL FOLK SONGS WHICH ENCOURAGED AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION. THE CONCERT WAS PERFORMED AT THE CELTIC JUNCTION CENTER IN ST. PAUL, ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 140 PERSONS. 3. EXPENSES 917, GRANT REVENUE 1,224 FEBRUARY 3, THE LOCAL LATVIAN FOLK GROUP "TEIKSMA" CELEBRATED THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY, AN "EVENING WITH TEIKSMA" WITH SONGS, GAMES, DANCING, FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS. THE PARTY WAS HELD AT THE CELTIC JUNCTION CENTER IN ST. PAUL. APPROXIMATELY 80 PERSONS ATTENDED. 4. EXPENSES 800, GRANT REVENUE 390 JUNE 14, A REMEMBRANCE PROGRAM WAS HELD AT THE LATVIAN CHURCH HALL FOR LATVIANS DEPORTED BY THE RUSSIANS TO SIBERIA ON JUNE 14, 1941 A LOCAL HISTORIAN, PETERIS KALNINS, GAVE THE ADDRESS AND APPROPRIATE MUSIC WAS PROVIDED BY THE FOLK GROUP "TEIKSMA", APPROXIMATELY 50 PERSONS ATTENDED THE PROGRAM. 5. EXPENSES 780, GRANT REVENUE 105 JUNE 21, A JOHN'S DAY PROGRAM (SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION, WHICH IS A HOLIDAY IN LATVIA), WAS ORGANIZED IN BOARD'S PLAISANCE PARK IN MINNEAPOLIS. THE FUN STARTED AT 6 PM WITH THE WEAVING OF TRADITIONAL CROWNS, FOLLOWED BY SINGING, MUSIC AND DANCING AND ENJOYING LATVIAN JOHN'S DAY CHEESE, PIRAGI AND REFRESHMENTS. APPROXIMATELY 80 PERSONS ATTENDED THE CELEBRATION. 6. EXPENSES 751, GRANT REVENUE 480 JANUARY 20, AN EVENING OF LATVIAN GAMES, PIZZA AND FILMS WAS PROVIDED AT THE LATVIAN CHURCH HALL, INCLUDING THE CARD GAME "ZOLITE", THE TABLE GAME "NOVUSS- AND THE NEWLY CREATED GAME "ICE COOL". THE LOCAL FILM PRODUCER, MARA PELECIS, SHOWED FILM FROM HER CYCLE "TRIMDA DIMD" ABOUT LATVIAN MUSICIANS. PIZZA AND REFRESHMENTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE APPROXIMATELY 50 PERSONS IN ATTENDANCE. 7. EXPENSES 550, GRANT REVENUE 860 ON APRIL 8, THE COMEDY FILM FROM LATVIA, "GRANDFATHER IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE COMPUTER", WAS SHOWN AT THE HEIGHTS THEATER IN COLUMBIA HEIGHTS. APPROXIMATELY 100 PERSONS ATTENDED THE SHOWING. 8. EXPENSES 422, GRANT REVENUE 0 THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE'S ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NATIONS TOOK PLACE AT THE ST. PAUL RIVER CENTRE FROM MAY 3 TO MAY 6. THE LATVIAN COMMUNITY PARTICIPATED WITH AN INFORMATIVE CULTURAL STAND AND THEIR DANCE GROUP "PERKONITIS'' PERFORMED TWICE IN THE AUDITORIUM. THE LATVIANS WERE ONE OF NEARLY 100 NATIONALITIES THAT PARTICIPATED. 9. EXPENSES 399, GRANT REVENUE 0 THE LATVIAN EMBASSY FROM WASHINGTON D. C.
