THE BOARD APPROVES MATERIAL AGREEMENTS AND DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR THE ORGANIZATION TO ENSURE THAT THE BROAD INTERESTS OF THE PUBLIC ARE BENEFITED, RATHER THAN ANY PERSONAL OR PRIVATE INTERESTS OF ANY OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR DONORS. THE FOUNDATION'S BOARD HAS TRADITIONALLY INCLUDED MEMBERS OF THE HEALTHCARE AND ELDERLY CARE PROFESSIONS, LEGAL, ACCOUNTING, AND OTHER SERVICE PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE ABLE TO LEND THEIR KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERTISE IN THEIR PARTICULAR FIELDS OF EXPERTISE TO THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION. THE FOUNDATION IS NOT A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION. (4) AVAILABILITY OF PUBLIC FACILITIES OR SERVICE. THE FOUNDATION'S REVENUES ARE DEPLOYED IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO MAXIMIZE PUBLIC BENEFIT. IT MAKES DISTRIBUTIONS OF FUNDS TO NONPROFIT ELDERLY CARE NURSING HOME FACILITIES, STATE UNIVERSITY ENDOWMENT PROGRAMS, AND ORGANIZATIONS DESIGNED TO MAKE MEALS AVAILABLE TO INDIGENT AND ELDERLY POPULATIONS, THOSE MOST VULNERABLE IN THE NEW ORLEANS AREA. THESE ARE RECURRING AND FREQUENT EXAMPLES OF DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE FOUNDATION'S REVENUES.(5) CONDUCTS AND MAINTAINS PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ON CHARITABLE WORK IN THE COMMUNITY. THE FOUNDATION IS DEVOTED TO ENSURING THE AVAILABILITY OF QUALITY HEALTHCARE AND HOSPICE CARE FOR NEW ORLEANS' LOW INCOME AND ELDERLY POPULATIONS. IT MAKES FREQUENT GIFTS TO NONPROFIT ELDERLY CARE NURSING HOMES AND HOSPICE CARE FACILITIES IN THE NEW ORLEANS AREA, AND WORKS TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF QUALITY HEALTHCARE FACILITIES IN NEW ORLEANS. SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF PROGRAMS THAT THE FOUNDATION HAS SUPPORTED IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS COMMUNITY-BASED CHARITY ARE: (A) THE VARIOUS CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR THE ST. MARGARET'S DAUGHTERS, AN AFFILIATED LOUISIANA NONPROFIT CORPORATION, (B), THE LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY, (C) UNIVERSITY OF HOLY CROSS, NURSING SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP, (D) FINAL WISH, A NONPROFIT PROGRAM FOR HOSPICE PATIENTS GIFTING THEM A "FINAL WISH," (E) THE DEVELOPMENT OF TWO NEW "HOME LIKE ENVIRONMENTS" FOR ELDERS, AND (F) FUNDING TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEDICAL RESIDENTS FROM TULANE UNIVERSITY IN NEW ORLEANS.
