What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? BIOGRAPHERS INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION PROMOTES THE ART AND CRAFT OF BIOGRAPHY AND SEEKS TO FURTHER THE PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS OF ITS PRACTITIONERS. IT DOES THIS THROUGH ITS NEWSLETTER, AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE, OTHER EVENTS AND ITS WEBSITE.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 BIO'S NINTH ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE, HELD AT THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK GRADUATE CENTER IN MANHATTAN IN MAY 2018, BROUGHT TOGETHER SOME 230 WORKING BIOGRAPHERS,WOULD-BE BIOGRAPHERS, LITERARY AGENTS AND EDITORS TO TAKE PART IN AN ALL-DAY SERIES OF PANELS AND PLENARY AND ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSIONS TO LEARN ABOUT THEIR CRAFT. THE CONFERENCE ALSO INCLUDED SPECIAL GUIDED TOURS OF LIBRARIES AND ARCHIVES IN NEW YORK CITY, SPECIALIZED WORKSHOPS AND THE PRESENTATION OF THE BIO AND BIBLIO AWARDS, AMONG OTHER AWARDS AND FELLOWSHIPS. THE FIFTH ANNUAL EDITORIAL EXCELLENCE AWARD EVENT, HELD IN NEW YORK CITY IN NOVEMBER, DREW MORE THAN 100 GUESTS TO HONOR TIM DUGGAN, THE EDITOR AND PUBLISHER OF TIM DUGGAN BOOKS, AN IMPRINT OF CROWN AT PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE.
