What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The Topeka Bar Association was established to promote the common interests of lawyers in the Topeka/Shawnee County, Kansas, area. It is devoted to the improvement of business conditions for lawyers in the area.

28 MEMBER MEETINGS: Each month (except April, July, and December) the organization conducts a luncheon meeting for its members. During the meeting, there is a speaker on some topic of interest, usually in the field of law. In April, the organization holds its Annual Meeting which is a dinner meeting open to all members and their guests. Directors and Officers are elected, awards are presented, and accomplishments during the past year are reviewed. 29 MEMBER SOCIAL EVENTS: Periodically, the organization sponsors golf tournaments, picnics, a Thanksgiving Dinner (Turkey Shoot), and similar social events which are open to all members. KANSAS BAR ASSOCIATION "BAR SHOW": Annually, the Kansas Bar Association conducts its Annual Meeting. Every three years the meeting is held in Topeka. To provide entertainment one evening for attendees and their guests, the Topeka Bar Association presents a musical review called the "Bar Show." Performers are volunteers from the Topeka legal community, but there are out-of-pocket expenses for costumes, scenery, musicians, etc. The Kansas Bar Association provides a stated sum to help defray these costs.
