    LATE FILING PENALTY ABATEMENT REQUEST FORM 990 LATE FILING PENALTY EXPLANATION FOR LATE FILING OF FORM 990-PF FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2018This return is being filed late through no fault of the Blanche Fischer Foundation or its directors. The accounting firm that has prepared the form 990-PF for the Foundation for many years merged with another firm in 2018. In the process of merging the two firms, this file was accidently misplaced and was not updated into the new firm. Therefore there was no extension filed for this return. In previous years the extension was automatically filed for the foundation by the accounting firm, thus, the Foundation had no knowledge that the extension filing had been missed until the expiration date of the extension was approaching (11-15-2019). Since the Foundation had not yet received the return for filing, they contacted the accounting firm to check on the status of the return preparation. It was not until then that it was discovered that the file had not been updated into the new firm and that neither the extension nor the return had been prepared or filed. Upon learning of this, the accounting firm immediately completed the preparation of the return for filing. It is now being filed before the extension deadline of 11-15-2019, which would have applied had the file not been lost in the merger.The late filing was completely due to the accounting firms losing the foundation's file during the merger and was through no fault or negligence of the Foundation. The Foundation took all reasonable steps to have the return prepared and filed as soon as they became aware of the issue. For this reason we respectfully request the abetment of any late filing penalties for the filing of form 990-PF for calendar year 2018.
