THE AMERICAN IMMIGRATION LAWYERS ASSOCIATION IS THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF IMMIGRATION LAWYERS ESTABLISHED TO PROMOTE JUSTICE, ADVOCATE FOR FAIR AND REASONABLE IMMIGRATION LAW AND POLICY, ADVANCE THE QUALITY OF IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY LAW AND PRACTICE, AND ENHANCE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS MEMBERS

AS AN EXAMPLE OF AN ONGOING COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIP, AILA NORCAL ATTORNEYS CONTINUED TO WORK WITH THE BAR ASSOCIATION OF SAN FRANCISCO TO STAFF MASTER CALENDAR HEARINGS AS PRO BONO COUNSEL OF THE DAY, APPEARING WITH RESPONDENTS WHO HAVE NOT YET SECURED COUNSEL TO REQUEST CONTINUANCES, FILE CHANGES OF ADDRESS, AND TO MAKE REFERRALS TO CONTINUING COUNSEL. 29 AILA NORCAL HOSTS NEARLY ONE EVENT PER MONTH TO THE BENEFIT OF OUR MEMBERSHIP. WE ARE A CERTIFIED CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE) PROVIDER AND OUR MEMBERS ARE ABLE TO EARN CLE CREDITS AT OUR EDUCATIONAL EVENTS. ON 01/17/2018 THE AILA NORCAL OFFERED A MINI CONFERENCE ALLOWING MEMBERS TO OBTAIN THREE HOURS OF HARD TO GET CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION.AILA NORCAL ALSO HOSTS SEVERAL SOCIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THAT USUALLY INVOLVE INTERACTIONS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES. THE ORGANIZATION PRESENTED AN AGENCY DINNER IN THE FALL WITH USCIS, CBP, AND ASYLUM OFFICERS. IN ADDITION, AILA NORCAL HOSTS A YEARLY EVENT IN THE SPRING INVITINGIMMIGRATION JUDGES AND GOVERNMENT ATTORNEYS WHICH PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO MEETIMMIGRATION JUDGES AND COURT STAFF.
