Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28	In furtherance of these goals, the Society holds one annual scientific meeting each year. That meeting is free for members to attend. In 2018, that Annual Meeting was held on April 14, 2018, at the Wild Horse Pass Casino Conference Center, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, Chandler, Arizona 85226, and 132 attended 126 psychiatrists/physicians and 6 medical students/non-physician attendees and obtained up to 7.75 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits of continuing medical education. The event also provided an opportunity for both physicians and psychiatric residents or medical students to poster present and be juried by the meeting attendees. There were 8 posters presented at the Annual Meeting.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29	The Society employs a full-time Lobbyist and works to engage and represent psychiatry in legislative and governmental affairs that affect access to care, health care, and physician practice environments. In 2018, key legislative issues included the Governors Opioid Act legislation introduced that revised the Sunrise process in our state S1470 key credentialing improvement legislation H2322 the restoration of KidsCare funding the Society was part of a stakeholder group participating in the commentary upon HCR2038 which established May 2nd as Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day. The Society remains engaged on behalf of its members on potential scope of practice issues. In 2018, there was no legislation introduced that expanded scope relating to the field of psychiatry such as psychologists prescribing efforts that have been introduced in the past.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30	The Societys collaborative educational event with the Arizona Society for Addiction Medicine on Opioids Use Disorder Essentials of Medication Assisted Treatment and Live Waiver Training, the planning for which begin in the fall of 2017, took place on January 20, 2018. The event was held at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix, with remote broadcasts to Flagstaff Medical Center and University Medical Center Whole Health Clinic in Tucson. The total number of attendees for the education was 67, with total number of physicians 51 and total number of non-physicians 16 includes 3 medical students. Through the support of the APA expedited grant program, this meeting was offered at a substantially reduced fee.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 31	The Society continues to participate in the Inter-Professional Behavioral Health Collaborative of Arizona a behavioral health provider collaborative including psychologists, social workers, family and marriage therapists, behavioral health analysts, counselors, school psychologists, and psychiatrists. The Society organized and supported an IBHC of AZ social and advocacy event that was held January 25, 2018 at Meadows Outpatient Center and was cosponsored by Meadows and Janssen / Johnson Johnson Health Care Systems, Inc. The Womens Group in Psychiatry held a wellness brunch, with a featured speaker on work-life balance and developing resilience in female physicians, at The University Club in January of 2018, and held its 2nd Annual Afternoon Tea at the Arizona Biltmore in April of 2018, sponsored American Professional Agency, Inc. and Meadows Behavioral Healthcare. The Womens Group has approximately 150 members in its interest group and the events were attended by approximately 50 of those members.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 31	The Society hosted a social mixer to bring the psychiatric residents from Tucson and Phoenix together for networking opportunities at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting, and the Society made informational visits to each residency program office in the calendar year to present on benefits of membership and grassroots advocacy. Throughout the year, the Society worked to communicate with its members through its quarterly Newsletter, distributed only electronically, and also through periodic electronic e-mail alerts.
