PROGRAMS UTILIZE YOUTH MENTORSHIP INCLUDE TARGETED ANTI-GANG STRATEGY (TAGS), OJP MENTORSHIP, GREAT BY 8TH, LEARNING TO LEAD, AND TEEN EXPERIENCE PROJECT. ACADEMIC SUCCESS - THE CLUB OFFERS PROGRAMS THAT ENSURE EACH MEMBER IS ADVANCING ON TIME AND READY FOR THE NEXT GRADE YEAR AFTER YEAR. THEY BELIEVE THAT SELF IMPROVEMENT AND A FULFILLING LIFE IS ONE FILLED WITH LEARNING IN ALL ITS FORMS. MEMBERS WILL GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL ON TIME, READY FOR COLLEGE, TRADE SCHOOL, THE MILITARY OR EMPLOYMENT. OVER 644 UNIQUE MEMBERS, BOTH YOUTH & TEEN, PARTICIPATED IN OUR HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CALLED POWER HOUR. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT- GIVING BACK TO OTHERS HELPS DEVELOP CHARACTER AND 211 YOUTH VOLUNTEERED TO HELP THEIR COMMUNITY AND OTHERS IN 48 COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES HELD FOR CLUB MEMBERS. 75 HIGH RISK YOUTH RECEIVED ONE ON ONE MENTORSHIP AT THE CLUB TO HELP THEM DEVELOP THE ATTITUDE AND SKILLS TO BE THEIR VERY BEST AND REMAIN IN SCHOOL. 100% OF THOSE MENTEES PROGRESSED TO THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL AND HAD PASSING GRADES WHICH HELPS BUILD POSITIVE ATTITUDES TOWARDS FUTURE SUCCESS. HEALTHY LIFESTYLES - EACH MEMBER ENGAGES IN DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND MAKES A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO FITNESS, HEALTHY NUTRITION CHOICES, EMPLOYS GOOD RESISTANCE AND DECISION-MAKING SKILLS, AND REFRAINS FROM PARTICIPATING IN RISKY BEHAVIORS. 520 UNIQUE MEMBERS, BOTH YOUTH & TEEN, PARTICIPATED IN TRIPLE PLAY A PROGRAM THAT TEACHES THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY DIET AND EXERCISE AS WELL AS BUILDS SELF ESTEEM. EACH OF OUR PRIORITY OUTCOMES HAVE SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVES THAT ARE OFFERED TO KIDS WHILE AT THE CLUB MAKING THE CLUB NOT ONLY FUN AS WELL AS IMPACTFUL AND HELPS CREATE KIDS READY TO LEAD IN THEIR COMMUNITY BOTH TODAY AND TOMORROW. 2018 ACCOMPLISHMENTS: IN 2018 THE BGCWTV SERVED OVER 807 YOUTH OF WHICH 67% ARE OF LATINO HERITAGE. THE DAILY AVERAGE ATTENDANCE FOR 2018 WAS 205 YOUTH A DAY WHICH IS AN INCREASE OF 11% OVER 2017. OF THE AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE APPROXIMATELY 40 WERE TEENS (7TH AND UP) AND THE REMAINING 165 WERE YOUTH 1ST TO 6TH GRADE. THE CLUB ALSO MET THE HUNGER NEEDS FOR COMMUNITY YOUTH IN VALE, OR AS WELL AS ONTARIO, OR DURING THE SUMMER THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SW OREGON FOODBANK AND THE CITY OF VALE. FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR THE B&G CLUB PROVIDED OVER 44,466 MEALS TO HUNGRY KIDS IN 2018. IN JUNE OF 2018, THE BGCWTV PROUDLY OPENED OUR SECOND SERVICE LOCATION IN PAYETTE, ID. THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT TOOK OVER FOUR YEARS OF WORK BY THE BOARD, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND CLUB STAFF. THE INITIAL SERVICE LEVELS WERE 34 KIDS A DAY AND GREW TO 45 BY THE END OF 2018. |
