OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Lumpkins Fellowship in Serious Mental Illness Treatment and Recovery: HHCIs research fellows serve two-year appointments to conduct transformative research, that bridges the gap between mental health and faith, and develop new approaches to care, while playing vital roles on our clinical services team. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Telepsychiatry: In 2018, HHCI set up a telemedicine suite and initiated telepsychiatric services for our clients who suffer from chronic persistent serious mental illness, such as major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Like diabetes, these illnesses are incurable, but their symptoms are manageable through access to psychiatric medication. Psychiatric assessment and care are offered one day each week at HHCI through video conference technology that links our client to a psychiatric nurse practitioner at a remote location.
