Voter suppression laws have existed for decades prior to the Voting Rights Act of 1964 and continue in the State of Texas to this day. The objectives are to (1) ensure laws designed to suppress voter registration and voter turnout do not pass in the state legislature by educating and informing Texans of their legal rights to vote, and (2) mobilize Texans to advocate in their communities while also monitoring elections via hotlines and poll watchers to ensure voting rights are not violated during the election process. |
