Return Reference	Explanation
Part X, Line 2:	The Union is organized as an Iowa nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as organizations described in Section 501(c)(5). The Union is annually required to file a Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax (Form 990) with the IRS. In addition, the Union is subject to income tax on net income that is derived from business activities that are unrelated to their exempt purposes. The Union has determined that the entity is not subject to unrelated business income tax and has not filed an Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return (Form 990-T) with the IRS. The Union believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken affecting its annual filing requirements, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The Union would recognize interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits and liabilities in income tax expense if such interest and penalties are incurred.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 1	The Executive Board consists of the President and 6 elective members, who do not hold any other office. The President serves as the Chairman and the Board elects its own Secretary. The Executive Board meets whenever necessary but not less than twice a month. It is the duty of the Board to investigate all applications for membership and submit its report to the Local Union for action in accordance with Article XX of the IBEW Constitution.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 4	The Bylaws were updated to include jurisdiction over Professional, Technical, and Clerical work.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	The Organization has union members which are "A and "BA" memberships paying basic dues and/or working dues.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a	Members in good standing may attend meetings and are qualified to vote on all issues including officers of the governing body. BA members can vote but not run for office.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b	The Form 990 is provided to the board before it is filed. The Form 990 is reviewed by the Business Manager and Office Manager.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12	IBEW does not have a conflict of interest policy. The Organization follows the Bylaws and the International Constitution. Possible conflicts are discussed with the International Representatives with the IBEW.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a	Compensation for the Business Manager is determined by the Board of Directors. The Business Manager position is paid 44 regular hours at the General Foreman rate each week. Compensation changes whenever there is a change in wages for the members per the collective bargaining agreement. The change is voted on by the Board of Directors and is documented in the board minutes.
