| -THE FOLLOWING ARE UPDATES TO MIKID SERVICES REPORTED IN THE 2017 990: | -PARENT SUPPORT NOW (PSN) HAS CONTINUED TO GROW IN JURISDICTIONS OFFERED AND NUMBER SERVED THROUGHOUT THE STATE. -PSN HAVE OUTCOMES THAT FAR EXCEED ANY OTHER INTERVENTION OFFERED IN ARIZONA TO REDUCE THE TIME A CHILD REMOVED BY THE AZ DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SAFETY FROM THEIR HOMES TO A PERMANENT SAFE PLACEMENT. OF THE FIRST 70+ CHILDREN WHO WERE RETURNED TO THEIR PARENTS THROUGH THIS PROGRAM ONLY ONE HAD RECEIVED A NEW DCS REFERRAL AT THE END OF THE FIRST YEAR THE CHILD HAD BEEN HOME, AND THAT ONE WAS A ONE-TIME BACKSLIDE OF USING AN ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE THAT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, THE CHILD WAS REUNITED IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. -TRANSITION AGE YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT SERVICES (TAY PROGRAM) CURRICULUM FOCUSING ON 13 TO 25 YEAR OLD YOUTH, CONTINUES TO GROW, EXPAND AND HAVE EXCELLENT OUTCOMES. THE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SHOW MUCH SUCCESS, WITH YOUNG ADULTS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CHALLENGES TURNING 18, REMAINING IN CARE AT LEVELS NEEDED TO SUPPORT THEIR SUCCESS, OBTAINING HOUSING, CONTINUING EDUCATION AND OR JOBS, AND MAINTAINING CONTACT AND PARTNERSHIP WITH THEIR FAMILY IN THEIR HEALTH. AS COMMON AS THESE OUTCOMES MIGHT SEEM TO THOSE NOT IN THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COMMUNITY, YOUTH WITH THESE ISSUES, MORE OFTEN TRANSITION TO HOMELESSNESS, NO JOBS, NOT PARTICIPATING IN EDUCATION OF TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAMS, LITTLE OR NO POSITIVE CONTACT WITH FAMILIES, AND REGULAR CONTACT WITH POLICE, EMERGENCY ROOMS AND HOSPITALIZATIONS. THE CASEY LIFE SKILLS INVENTORY HAS BECOME A PART OF THE PROGRAM TO MONITOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT BY EACH PARTICIPANT. -MIKID CONTINUES TO GROW THE ONLY STATE APPROVED YOUTH PEER SUPPORT TRAINING WITH A FOCUS ON YOUNG ADULTS AND CERTIFYING YOUTH PEER SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS IN AZ. MIKID HAS NOW TAUGHT 8 CLASSES AND HAVE CERTIFIED OVER 70 INDIVIDUALS. -HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION FOR FAMILIES AND YOUTH CONTINUES TO GROW AND BECOME A CORE PART OF PROGRAMMING FOR ALL FAMILIES, PREPARING FOR NEW MEDICAID CONTRACTS REQUIRING INTEGRATED PHYSICAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2018. IN ADDITION, PROMOTING HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS FOR STAFF TO PROMOTE SELFCARE. -PREVENTION TRAINING, AND OTHER PREVENTION SERVICES CONTINUE TO GROW AND GARNER NEW GRANT SUPPORT. -MIKID CONTINUES TO GROW THE STIGMA REDUCING AND SKILL-ENHANCING DELIVERY OF YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST-AID AND AS NOTED LAST YEAR, HAS EXPAND TO ADULT AND OTHER SPECIFIC POPULATIONS NOW AVAILABLE FOR TRAININGS.
