What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? To establish and maintain an organization that will increase and improve access to healthy food choices for community residents by locating the market in an area that is currently designated by the USDA as a healthy food desert, working with food stamp programs to increase the buying power of low income individuals using food stamps to purchase healthy foods, providing educational information and demonstrations on healthy cooking and eating habits and the weekly collection of food from market vendors to be donated to local food banks.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Provided local food banks freash produce and meats on a weekly basis, worked with other nonprofit entities to provide access to healthy foods to community members in underserved communities. Began application process with USDA to become a SNAP participant to make possible the purchase of fresh foods at the market with food stamps for local residents. Awarded "Quality of Life" award from City of Rome for efforts aimed at imporving the quality of life of community members by increasing and imporving access to healthy food choices for residents living in an area designated as a food desert by the USDA.
