What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? NNEAHE is a professional membership society for healthcare executives in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont; and is a chartered chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Form 990-EZ, Part I, Line 16 In January of 2019, while the Organization was transitioning to a new leadership team and scheduling the year's exempt-purpose events, members of the financial team began to receive fraudulent invoices and reimbursement requests in the form of several phishing emails. The fraudulent messages appeared to be legitimate requests from leadership and event coordinators to cover standard operational and event costs. As these messages appeared to be legitmate and reasonable and were received during a time of both leadership transition and event-planning, the requests were approved and funds were transferred accordingly. However, the the Organization's financial representatives became suspicious of the activity and were able to detect the fraud. All transfers to the illegitimate sources were immediately ceased. The Organization worked with its bank and credit card companies to recover a portion of the lost funds. The Organization also immediately put in place new internal controls to prevent such an event from happening in the future and notified applicable law enforcement bodies of the theft. The Organization's net loss due to these fraudulent requests was $18,163.
