Other	PART III, LINE 28 - PUBLIC POLICY - The Company was influential for public policy affecting their members. The Policy Implementation Committee met with State Senators and Representatives prior to the start of the session to advocate for agriculture. The Company took part in forming state-wide policy by raising local issues, distributing opinionnaires to members and crafting policy statements reflecting the views of its members. They sponsored three weekend meetings during the legislative session which were attended by 30-40 community members. Leaders participated in discussions with county officials about the building of a new jail facility and a new hospital facility, focusing on the effect to property taxes.
Other	PART III, LINE 29 - EDUCATION/AG IN THE CLASSROOM - The Company participated in a project to build facilities to demonstrate nutrition-based education for youth in Jackson County. The project will make available kitchen teaching facilities for students to learn how to meet their nutrition needs. The scholarship committee evaluated applications from high school graduates and awarded three scholarships for post-secondary education.
Other	PART III, LINE 30 - AGRICULTURAL PROMOTION - The Company promoted agriculture to its members and the general public in various ways. The Company sponsored activities at the county fair, as well as agriculture-related speakers at meetings. They sponsored three events in Jackson County and contributed to the local economic development organization to attract ag businesses to the area. Leaders conducted three activities for younger producers to assist them in their operations. The Company conducted a promotional meeting for 250 member families.
