	DTSB hosted 9 ribbon cuttings and welcomed 12 new business openings with 112 new jobs created in 2019, while awarding $40,000 in grants for exterior enhancements and placemaking projects. Street-level solutions clocked over 5,000 cleaning hours and also completed replacement and beautification projects that totaled 1,000 hours for planting flower beds, bowls, and hanging baskets for all of downtown. The ambassador program logged 7,000 safety hours, 3,500 hours of special events and seasonal projects, and 101,000 pounds of trash removal. Snow removal included 710 hours, and the winter projects for special events included 3,210 hours of labor. DTSB planned, promoted, and implemented nearly 100 total events and related promotional activities, and our Social Services Outreach Specialist made over 1,000 contacts with downtown homeless population and helped connect 12 clients to permanent supportive housing or long-term, wrap-around services.

The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Organization and positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. We have not identified any uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, and there are no unrecognized tax benefits recorded as liabilities in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. We classify interest and penalties, if any, associated with uncertain tax positions as a component of income tax expense. There was no accrued interest or any penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits at either December 31, 2019 or 2018, or any interest or penalties expense related to unrecognized tax benefits for the years then ended. We are no longer subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service or the State of Indiana for years prior to 2016.
