Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Fiscal Year 2020 will go down as a pivotal year in the life of this organization. The BBA made many decisions and choices, which will place this organization on a path to impact the lives and fortunes of businesspersons in ways heretofore unrealized. In July of 2019, the BBA began a process of developing a new Stategic Plan. We engaged a professional to guide us through this rigorous process. The Strategic Plan is quite comprehensive. Both Mark Yates and Roby S. Williams have now attended the twelve week program facilitated by the Assisi Foundation, Before You Ask. This program is designed for non-profits and guides non-profit managers to better understand their Value Proposition , their purpose and the responsiblities attendant to effectively running a non-Profit. This fiscal year, BBA Accomplishments include but are not limited to the following In August of 2019, the BBA Yates Williams attended the USBC Conference United States Black Chambers, Inc. in Washington, D.C.. BBA Memphis was recognized for having won the Black History Month Essay Contest sponsored by the USBC. The essay was on what is/was the most important day in United States African American History. We won. We received a 400 scholarship for the Conference Registration Fee as a prize. BBA continued to develop actionable relationships with persons and organziations, which could help us achieve our goal of generational wealth building in the African American Community. We have partnered with the Office of the Mayor of Memphis, The Memphis City Council, The County Commission, The Greater Memphis Chamber, Opeation Hope, Community Lift, the Epicenter, The 800 Initiative, Mid-South Minority Business Council, The Better Business Bureau, River City Capital Corporation and other strategic partners to achieve our goal of generational wealth building in the African American Community. Our Strategic Plan yielded our new mission and vision statements. OUR MISSION To imporve the economic well-beign and the quality of life of all stakeholders in the Memphis region by develping successful entrepreneurs through advocacy, education and business development. OUR VISION Memphis Shelby County, A full Opportunity Society a dynamic, diverse, epistemic community. Our vision is our Theory of Change for this community. Perhaps the most important thing we did in fiscal 2020 is this. In January of 2020, BBA elevated Mr. Mark Yates to the position of President of BBA. He succeeded Mr. Roby S. Williams who has served in that capacity since 2002. Mr. Williams remains with BBA as the Chief Relationship Officer CRO. This team is dynamic and the members are recognized nationally as Thought Leaders for Minority Economic Develepment. The BBA held the BENNY AWARDS in October of 2019, Mrs. Veta Jeffery, USBC, Inc. Board Member and President of the Heartland Chamber of Commerce delivered the keynote address. BBA continued to develop entrepreneurs and support the efforts of others similarly inspired. We look forward to a very successful future under the leadership of Mr. Mark Yates.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6,78 The BBA Board of Directors determines the salary of the President/CEO and Chief Relationship Officer CRO.. The Board of Directors approves all the expenses of the BBA during quarterly planning and evaluation sessions.
