The American Immigation Lawyers Association is the National Association of Immigration Lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.

28 Throughout the year, nonprofit liaisons linked parties to available pro bono service resources and linked volunteers to appropriate organizations. As an example of an ongoing community relationship, AILA NorCal attorneys continued to work with the BAR Association of San Francisco to staff master calendar hearings as pro bono counsel of the day, appearing with respondents who have not yet secured counsel to request continuances, file changes of address, and to make referrals to continuing counsel. 29 AILA NorCal hosts nearly one event per month to the benefit of our membership. We are a certified continuing legal education (CLE) provider and our members are able to earn CLE credits at our educational events.Annualy, the AILA Norcal offers a mini conference allowing members to obtain three hours of hard to get continuing legal education.AILA NorCal also host several social events throughout the year that usually involve interactions with representatives of govermental agencies. The organization presented an agency dinner in the fall with USCIS, CBP, and Asylum Officers, which provided opportunities to meet immigration judges and court staff. 30 AILA NorCal prides itself in being able to offer donations to local nonprofits who help immigrants and provide other benefits to local immigrant communities. A large portion of our annual membership dues is donated to this endeavor. In fiscal year ended 06/30/2020 these donations totaled $36,000.
