THE STORE IS COMPLETELY CRUELTY-FREE AND IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS WE KNOW TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW EASY IT IS TO LIVE COMPASSIONATELY, WITHOUT CAUSING HARM TO ANIMALS. THE STORE NOT ONLY PROVIDES A SPACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT VEGANSIM AND FIND THE PRODUCTS THEY WANT; IT ALSO SHOWS THE LARGER COMMUNITY THAT A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PEOPLE WANT TO USE PRODUCTS MADE WITHOUT THE USE OF ANIMAL TESTING, INGREDIENTS, SKINS, OR FURS. THE STOREFRONT ALLOWS US TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS MONTHS OF LEAFLETING AND TO HAVE ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATIONS WITH HUNDREDS OF CUSTOMERS CURIOUS ABOUT ADOPTING A PLANT-BASED DIET. ITS A GREAT, NON-THREATENING FORM OF OUTREACH. IN TRACKING THE CONVERSATIONS WE HAVE WITH PEOPLE ABOUT ANIMAL RIGHTS, VEGANISM, AND OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO ANIMALS. IN 2019 ETHIQUE NOUVEAU HAD APPROXIMATELY 1,000 TRANSACTIONS, EACH INTERACTION AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STAFF TO INTRODUCE PEOPLE TO ANIMAL ISSUES AND SUGGEST RESOURCES FOR FURTHER LEARNING (THIS NUMBER ONLY INCLUDES PEOPLE WHO MADE PURCHASES; THERE WERE MANY ADDITIONAL VISITORS TO THE STORE WHO WERENT COUNTED). OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: MINNEAPOLIS VEGAN MEETUPMINNEAPOLIS VEGAN MEETUP ORGANIZES DINEOUTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AMONG PEOPLE WHO WANT TO ENJOY LIFE WITHOUT EATING OR OTHERWISE USING ANIMALS. IN 2019, WE HELD 93 EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS SUCH AS VEGAN MEAL PLANNING AND NUTRITION WORKSHOPS AT AREA LIBRARIES (SCHEDULED MONTHLY DUE TO INCREASED DEMAND), VEGAN COOKING CLASSES AT LOCAL CO-OPS, GROCERY SHOPPING TOURS, DINE-OUTS AT LOCAL RESTAURANTS, FILM SCREENINGS, AND TEACH-INS, A CHICKENS AS COMPANIONS WORKSHOP, AND WELL-ATTENDED VOLUNTEER DAYS AT CHICKEN RUN RESCUE SO PEOPLE COULD MEET THE ANIMALS THEYRE ADVOCATING FOR. IN 2019 VEGAN MEETUP GREW TO OVER 3,500 MEMBERS. THE MEETUP EVENTS PROVIDED A VITAL SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT TRANSITIONING TO A PLANT-BASED DIET. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: VIRTUAL REALITY PAY PER VIEWPAY PER VIEW IS AN INNOVATIVE OUTREACH STRATEGY WHERE PEOPLE ARE PAID $1.00 TO WATCH A SHORT IMMERSIVE 3D VIDEO ABOUT THE HARSH REALITIES OF ANIMAL AGRICULTURE AND THEN ASKED TO DECREASE THEIR CONSUMPTION OF ANIMAL PRODUCTS AND WORK TOWARDS A VEGAN DIET. THIS EXPERIENCE IS LIFE CHANGING FOR MANY PEOPLE. IN 2019, WE EXPANDED OUR VIRTUAL REALITY VIDEO OUTREACH TO A TOTAL OF 37 DAYS OF OUTREACH AT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, HEALTH EXPOS, AND MUNICIPAL FESTIVALS WHERE WE HAD HUNDREDS OF POWERFUL CONVERSATIONS WITH INDIVIDUALS. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: MINNESOTANS EXPOSING THE PET TRADEIN 2019 WE CONTINUED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PROBLEMS INHERENT IN BREEDING AND SELLING LIVE ANIMALS FOR PROFIT. WE HELD WEEKLY (WEATHER PERMITTING) DEMONSTRATIONS AT FOUR PAWS AND A TAIL PET STORE IN BLAINE AND HAD HUNDREDS OF CONVERSATIONS WITH INDIVIDUALS ABOUT BUYING ONLY FROM PET STORES THAT DON'T SELL LIVE ANIMALS, THE PROBLEM WITH TREATING LIVING CREATURES AS PRODUCTS, AND THE CRUELTY OF THE PUPPY, KITTEN, BIRD, AND SMALL ANIMAL INDUSTRIES. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: VEGAN UNIVERSITYVEGAN UNIVERSITY IS A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO HELP PEOPLE ADOPT AND MAINTAIN A PLANT-BASED DIET IN A WAY THAT WORKS FOR THEM. VEGAN UNIVERSITY CONSISTS OF THESE ELEMENTS ORIGINATED BY ARC: VEGAN GROCERY SHOPPING TOURS OF LOCAL CO-OPS AND MARKETS DESIGNED TO TEACH YOU HOW TO SHOP VEGAN, HELP! IM GOING VEGAN, PLANT-BASED NUTRITION, VEGAN MEAL PLANNING, VEGAN ON A BUDGET, AND LOW WASTE VEGAN WORKSHOPS, AND A LONG-RUNNING VEGAN MENTOR PROGRAM. WE HOST EASY PEASY VEGAN COOKING CLASSES AT LOCAL CO-OPS, MAINTAIN A YOUTUBE LIBRARY OF OUR FEED ME VEGAN COOKING SHOWS, LEAD VEGAN COMMUNITY CIRCLE DISCUSSION GROUPS WHERE WE OFFER SUPPORT AND IDEAS ABOUT CHALLENGES PEOPLE MAY FACE IN ADOPTING A PLANT-BASED DIET, AND HOLD AN ANNUAL WORKSHOP ON HOW TO HANDLE THE HOLIDAYS AS A VEGAN. IN 2019, VEGAN UNIVERSITY HELD 6 VEGAN GROCERY SHOPPING TOURS, 17 WORKSHOPS ABOUT PLANT-BASED EATING, 6 INTRODUCTORY PLANT-BASED COOKING CLASSES, AND HAD A CONTINUING EMPHASIS ON COOPERATIVE EFFORTS WITH THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY WITH EXHIBITS AT ROCHESTER EARTH FEST AND A LOCAL SUSTAINABILITY FAIR. IN NOVEMBER, WE HELD OUR 26TH ANNUAL TURKEY-FREE FRIENDSGIVING DINNER, ATTENDED BY WELL OVER 200 PEOPLE. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: VEGKINSVEGKINS IS A UNIQUE SOCIAL NETWORKING PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES RAISING VEGAN CHILDREN, WHICH OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENTS TO COME TOGETHER TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND INFORMATION WITH OTHER PARENTS AND BUILD A COMMUNITY RAISING COMPASSIONATE KIDS. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 10: TEACHING COMPASSIONOUR TEACHING COMPASSION PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE PRESENTATIONS ON A VARIETY OF ANIMAL-RELATED TOPICS SUCH AS OUR TREATMENT OF AND RELATIONSHIP TO ANIMALS, SPECIESISM, AND SUSTAINABILITY TO ASSEMBLIES, STUDENT GROUPS, AND GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAMS. WE TRAINED THE VOLUNTEERS AND LEADERS WHO WILL GROW OUR EDUCATIONAL AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO HELP ANIMALS WITH 11 BECOMING YOUR BEST VOICE FOR ANIMALS ACTIVIST TRAINING SESSIONS, AND WE BROUGHT IN DR. WILL TUTTLE, AUTHOR OF "THE WORLD PEACE DIET," TO SEPAK ABOUT HOW HUMAN, ANIMAL AND ENVIRNOMENTAL RIGHTS ARE ALL CONNECTED, AND HOW LIBERATING ANIMALS FROM EXPLOITATION HELPS TO LIBRATE HUMANITY FROM THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF VIOLENCE AND OPPRESSION.
