What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE HAWAII PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION STRIVES TO ADVANCE AND SUPPORT THE PRACTICE OF PHARMACY BY IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF CARE THROUGHOUT THE HEALTHCARE CONTINUUM IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR PATIENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE HEALTHCARE TEAM.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 HPHA'S LARGEST PROGRAM IS THE ANNUAL MEETING, WHICH WAS HELD ON APRIL 28 & 29, 2019 AT HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE. ABOUT 70 PHARMACISTS, PHARMACY TECHNICIANS, PHARMACY STUDENTS AND PHARMACEUTICAL REPRESENTATIVES CONVENED AT THIS TWO DAY CONFERENCE. PHARMACY RESIDENTS ARE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT THEIR PROJECTS TO THE MEMBERSHIP. THIS PROGRAM CONSISTED OF A TOTAL OF TEN CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS FOR PARTICIPANTS. NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS WERE INSTALLED.

ABOUT 50 PHARMACISTS, STUDENTS, PHARMACY TECHNICIANS AND GUESTS ATTENDED THIS GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING WHICH IS COMBINED WITH A CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM AND AWARDS PRESENTATION. THE PRESIDENT UPDATED THE MEMBERS WITH WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH HPHA AND THE TREASURER PRESENTED A FINANCIAL REPORT. THE GUEST SPEAKER WAS MICHELE NAKATA, JD, WHO SPOKE ABOUT THE MEDICAL USE OF CANNABIS IN HAWAII. THIS EVENT ALSO INCLUDES A RESIDENCY SHOWCASE WHICH FEATURES HAWAII RESIDENCY PROGRAMS. STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO MINGLE WITH RESIDENCY DIRECTORS AND RESIDENDS AT A MORE INTIMATE LEVEL.
