FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
"SHARING LIVE MUSIC, LIGHTING UP LIVES" MUSIC FOR SENIORS CONNECTS AREA MUSICIANS WITH OLDER ADULTS THROUGH LIVE AND INTERACTIVE MUSIC PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO ENGAGE, ENTERTAIN AND EDUCATE SENIORS - PROMOTING HEALTH AND WELLBEING, REDUCING ISOLATION AND ENRICHING THE LIVES OF ALL PARTICIPANTS. WE CONNECT INDIVIDUALS: MUSIC IS OUR VEHICLE. IN 2019, WITH 43 (36%) OF OUR MUSICIAN PARTNERS THEMSELVES SENIORS, WE ACHIEVED OUR MISSION BOTH THROUGH THE GIVING AND RECEIVING OF SERVICES. VIA OUTREACH, OUR FREE DAYTIME CONCERT SERIES AND LEARNING LABS, WE SHARED 983 LIVE PROGRAMS WITH PARTICIPANTS AT 139 LOCATIONS ACROSS 9 TENNESSEE COUNTIES BETWEEN JULY '19 AND MARCH '20. BY ENLISTING 121 MUSICIANS RANGING IN AGE FROM 5 YEARS OLD TO 90 YEARS YOUNG, WE FOSTERED 25,293 LIVE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AND ADVANCED OUR "MUSIC CONNECTING GENERATIONS" INTERGENERATIONAL INITIATIVE BY INCLUDING 401 STUDENT AND YOUTH PARTICIPANTS IN ALL ASPECTS OF OUR PROGRAMMING. RESPONDING TO QUARANTINES IMPOSED BY COVID-19 IN MARCH, 2020, WE QUICKLY PIVOTED IIVE PROGRAMS TO VIRTUAL, SHARING A NEW VIRTUAL OUTREACH PROGRAM (VOP) EVERY MONDAY. BY THE END OF JUNE, 2020 WE HAD E-DELIVERED 14 FREE WEEKLY VOPS PLUS TWO ADDITIONAL VOPS CURATED ESPECIALLY FOR A SENIOR COMMUNITY GROUP REQUESTING THEM. VIEWING OF THESE VIRTUAL PROGRAMS RESULTED IN 4,219 ONLINE CONNECTIONS. AN EASING OF COVID-19 QUARANTINES IN MAY AND JUNE 2020 ALLOWED US TO RESUME ON-SITE DELIVERY OF LIVE MUSIC VIA SOCIALLY-DISTANCED OUTDOOR "COURTYARD CONCERTS." DURING THESE TWO MONTHS, OUR MUSICIAN PARTNERS SHARED 10 COURTYARD CONCERTS WITH 287 PARTICIPANTS. 2019 POSED UNIQUE CHALLENGES STEMMING FROM THE PANDEMIC. HOWEVER, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A FEDERAL PAYROLL PROTECTION PROGRAM LOAN, THE PIVOTING OF OUR LIVE PROGRAMMING TO VIRTUAL, THE SUPPORT OF THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS, THE TENNESSEE AND METRO NASHVILLE ARTS COMMISSIONS AND ALL OF OUR FOUNDATION, SPONSOR AND INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT, PLUS THE REMARKABLE EFFORTS OF OUR DEDICATED MUSICIAN PARTNERS, WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD - EVEN DURING THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME. WE REMAIN GRATEFUL FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF ALL PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS, FOR OUR STAFF AND BOARD AND FOR OUR COMMUNITY'S SUPPORT. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FORGE AHEAD, EVEN IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY, TO CONTINUE CONNECTING MUSICIANS AND OLDER ADULTS FOR "SHARING LIVE MUSIC, LIGHTING UP LIVES"

THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPROVES COMPENSATION PAID TO OTHER SALARIED AND CONTRACT STAFF, WHICH IS THEN APPROVED BY THE BOARD DURING THE ANNUAL BUDGETING PROCESS. COMPENSATION LEVELS ARE COMPARABLE TO THOSE RELEASED BY MEMPHIS ACCOUNTING FIRM WATKINS UIBERALL IN ITS TENNESSEE COMPENSATION SURVEY CONDUCTED EVERY 18 MONTHS. THE SURVEY INCORPORATES DATA COLLECTED FROM FOUR MAJOR CITIES IN TENNESSEE AND INCLUDES COMPENSATION LEVELS FOR A NUMBER OF NONPROFIT POSITIONS, WITH SURVEY DATA DIVIDED BY THE SIZE OF AGENCIES SO THAT ACCURATE COMPARISONS CAN BE MADE. AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF NASHVILLE'S CENTER FOR NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT, MUSIC FOR SENIORS PARTICIPATES IN THE WATKINS UIBERALL SURVEY AND RECEIVES COPIES OF THE RESULTS FROM EACH SURVEY.
