| FORM 990, PART III, LINE 2: | A new program started on December 6, 2019, the Organization entered into a memorandum of understanding with Kwethluk, Inc. for the purpose of achieving the various aims and objectives relating to the Kwethluk Wind & Storage Project. As part of this understanding, the Organization will utilize existing funding from the State of Alaska and obtained funding from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy for the development of a wind project in the YK Delta, and the purchase and installation of battery storage in Kwethluk. In December 2019, the Organization entered into an agreement for a complete Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the amount of $836,460. In February 2020, the Organization entered into an agreement to pursue wind generation with the goal of helping reduce dependence on fossil fuels not to exceed $4,243,000. |

Energy - The ASE program was implemented in Kwethluk, Alaska as a continuation of a Department of Energy/National Renewable Energy Lab program to perform Level 1 energy audits in homes in Kwethluk, Alaska and provide recommendations to homeowners on energy and money saving opportunities. Nuvista managed community outreach and site visits. DOE - Nuvista launched a grant-funded effort to bolster the wind project in Kwethluk by purchasing a battery energy storage system that will be installed in the power plant. The purpose of the battery is to improve the economics of the Kwethluk wind project, provide improved energy resilience in the event of power outages, and reduce consumption of fossil fuels. |
