| PART III, LINE 4A EXPLANATION | CONSERVATION OF THE ENDANGERED SNOW LEOPARD AND ITS MOUNTAIN ECOSYSTEM: IN 2019 THE SNOW LEOPARD TRUST WORKED WITH MORE THAN 6,000 RURAL, PASTORALIST HOUSEHOLDS TO IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS THAT NOT ONLY PROTECT WILD SNOW LEOPARDS BUT ALSO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR HERDER FAMILIES, INCLUDING WOMEN AND CHILDREN. OUR PROGRAMS WERE LIVESTOCK INSURANCE, LIVESTOCK VACCINATION, CORRAL-BUILDING, AND A CONSERVATION HANDICRAFT PROGRAM CALLED SNOW LEOPARD ENTERPRISES. AS PART OF THESE PROGRAMS HERDERS SIGNED CONSERVATION CONTRACTS IN WHICH THEY AGREED TO PROTECT SNOW LEOPARDS AND THEIR KEY PREY. IN TURN, THE PROGRAMS PROVIDE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SUPPORT TO HERDER FAMILIES. IN 2019, 421 WOMEN TOOK PART IN SNOW LEOPARD ENTERPRISES AND 242 RECEIVED CRAFT TRAINING. WOMEN EARNED UP TO $350 FROM HANDICRAFT SALES AND CONSERVATION BONUSES. HERDERS WERE ABLE TO INSURE OVER 13,950 LIVESTOCK AGAINST SNOW LEOPARD AND WOLF ATTACKS; AND OVER 116,000 LIVESTOCK WERE VACCINATED AGAINST DISEASE. WE ALSO PROVIDED 18 AWARDS TO HONOR RANGERS FOR APPREHENDING ILLEGAL HUNTERS. THE SNOW LEOPARD TRUST ALSO CONTINUED ITS ROLE AS THE LEAD TECHNICAL ADVISOR TO THE GLOBAL SNOW AND ECOSYSTEM PROTECTION PROGRAM (GSLEP) DEVELOPED OUT OF THE 2013 GLOBAL SNOW LEOPARD FORUM. THROUGH GSLEP, SLT PROVIDES SUPPORT, TOOLS, AND RESOURCES TO ALL RANGE COUNTRIES TO INCREASE PROTECTION ACROSS 23 FOCAL LANDSCAPES. |

ECO-CAMPS ARE EXPERIENTIAL AND HANDS-ON LEARNING CONSISTING OF AN INTRODUCTION TO THE SNOW LEOPARD, BIODIVERSITY AND FOOD WEB; BIOLOGICAL ADAPTATIONS OF GENERALIST AND SPECIALIST SPECIES; CLIMATE CHANGE, UNDERSTANDING GREENHOUSE EFFECT; AND HUMAN INTERACTION WITH WILDLIFE. WE SUPPORTED 14 GRADUATE STUDENTS IN 2019 WITH PROJECTS RANGING FROM GRASSAND ECOLOGY TO CLIMATE CHANGE TO DISEASE ECOLOGY OF SNOW LEOPARDS. WE ALSO USED MASS MEDIA TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR SNOW LEOPARD PROTECTION AND HELD PUBLIC SNOW LEOPARD DAY EVENTS IN MONGOLIA AND PAKISTAN.
