What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Through a representative democratic structure, the American Federation of Teachers improves the professional, economic and personal lives of our members and their families, strengthens the institutions in which they work, and furthers the cause of social justice through the trade union movement.

Explanation:

We had a change in Treasurers at the end of the year. The new treasurer believed the organization should be on a Fiscal year and not calendar year. We had to work with the IRS to get clarification.
