SINCE OPENING IN JULY 2015, TLM HAS HOSTED 35 FREE ART EXHIBITIONS TO DATE, WHICH HAVE FEATURED TENDERLOIN-BASED ARTISTS OR TENDERLOIN-RELATED TOPICS, MORE THAN 250 TENDERLOIN WALKING TOURS FOCUSED ON ARCHITECTURAL, ACTIVIST, LGBTQ, IMMIGRANT, AND NIGHTLIFE HISTORY AND CULTURE, NUMEROUS MULTI-GENERATIONAL STORYTELLING EVENTS FEATURING PERFORMANCES BY AT-RISK YOUTH RECEIVING SERVICES AT LARKIN STREET YOUTH CENTER, SENIORS FROM THE CURRY SENIOR CENTER, INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY FROM ADDICTION IN THE TENDERLOIN, AND LOCAL SRO RESIDENTS. THE EVENTS INCLUDED MORE THAN 150 LECTURES, DISCUSSIONS, AND FILM SCREENINGS FOCUSED ON HISTORIES AND CULTURES OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD'S LGBTQ AND RACIALLY AND ETHNICALLY DIVERSE COMMUNITIES. THESE PROGRAMS COMPLEMENT OUR ACCLAIMED PERMANENT EXHIBITION, AN UNPARALLELED COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND EPHEMERA EXPLORING THE RICH HISTORY OF THE TENDERLOIN. WE'RE GRATEFUL TO HAVE BEEN RECEIVED WITH OPEN ARMS BY OUR COMMUNITY- 5,000 PEOPLE VISIT THE MUSEUM EACH YEAR, INCLUDING 150 SCHOOL GROUPS. PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENT STATEMENT 2 IN 2018 THE TENDERLOIN MUSEUM PREMIERED TWO MAJOR ARTS PROJECTS THAT HONOR TENDERLOIN HISTORY, THE CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED PLAY THE COMPTON'S CAFETERIA RIOT, WHICH SOLD OUT 32 PERFORMANCES FOR AN AUDIENCE OF 1,700. THIS GROUNDBREAKING HYBRID OF THEATER, SITE SPECIFIC INTERACTIVITY, AND LIVING HISTORY, WAS DIRECTLY INSPIRED BY THE 1966 RIOTS THAT WERE A CATALYST FOR THE BIRTH OF LGBTQ ACTIVISIM IN SAN FRANCISCO. THE RIOT HAS BECOME AN INTEGRAL PIECE OF THE TENDERLOIN'S IDENTITY, AND THIS PLAY HAS OFFERED A SINGULAR OPPORTUNITY FOR AUDIENCES TO CELEBRATE THE COMMUNITY WHOSE TENACIOUS SPIRIT SPAWNED A CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. ADDITIONALLY IN 2018 TLM PREMIERED TENDER (N): A PERSON WHO TAKES CHARGE, A SITE-SPECIFIC AERIAL DANCE CHOREOGRAPHED ONTO THE FACADE OF THE HISTORIC CADILLAC HOTEL BY JO KREITER OF FLYAWAY PRODUCTIONS. OVER 2,600 ENTHUSIASTIC GUESTS (OVER 10 PERFORMANCES) SAW TENDER TRANSLATE THE HISTORY ENSHRINED WITHIN THE WALLS OF THE TENDERLOIN MUSEUM INTO A DAZZLING AERIAL PERFORMANCE THAT TOOK THE TL'S STORIES TO THE STREETS. EVENTS LIKE TENDER AND THE COMPTON'S CAFETERIA RIOT DO MORE THAN JUST CULTIVATE HISTORICAL RECOGNITION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD; THEY ACTIVELY BRING THOUSANDS OF VISITORS TO THE AREA - VISITORS WHO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR THRIVING CORNER OF THE CITY THAT GROWS BIGGER AND MORE DIVERSE EACH YEAR. PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENT STATEMENT 3 THE TENDERLOIN MUSEUM PROMOTES THE HISTORY AND CHARACTER OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD BY PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY, FREE OR LOW-COST ARTS AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE TENDERLOIN'S RESIDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT, ENGAGE WITH, AND CELEBRATE THEIR SHARED PAST AND CURRENT CULTURE.
