    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities

    1 StandardsWork received support from the Skillman Foundation and others to develop a comprehensive set of curriculum support materials for the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) to aid classroom teachers in implementing their new EL Language Arts curriculum. The decision by DPSCD to adopt a new curriculum just months before the new school year began placed enormous professional learning pressure on teachers. The resulting "modEL Detroit" tools are credited with significantly easing the district's transition to the new curriculum. 667,620
    2 U.S. Department of Education Contract Implementing College Readiness Standards in Adult Education: On September 28, 2018 StandardsWork was awarded a new five-year contract of the U.S. Department of Education/Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) to continue OCTAE's work implementing college and career readiness in adult education. StandardsWork is assisting OCTAE in the next stage of its efforts to strengthen the capacity of adult educators to implement college and career readiness standards, with a focus on English Language Learners. 562,677
    3 Curriculum Matters (www.curriculummatters.org) is a professional learning network (PLN) for which StandardsWork serves as the "hub", or facilitator. It consists of chief academic officers in a handful of school districts across the country that have recently adopted high-quality, standards-aligned English language arts curriculum and are committed to sharing their story. The content this network puts out in social media and through trade blogs (which StandardsWork staff helps produce) has helped fuel a growing national conversation about literacy, including a call by educators for increased professional learning support on the science of reading and literacy instruction. 92,790
