THE MOBILE FOOD PANTRY REACHES COMMUNITIES THAT DO NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO SET UP THEIR OWN FOOD PANTRIES AND ENCOURAGES THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP FOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION. THE MOBILE FOOD PANTRY REACHED 5,991 HUNGRY NEW MEXICANS EACH MONTH. THE FOOD DEPOT'S MOBILE FOOD PANTRY PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 3.5 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD AND 2.9 MILLION MEALS IN FY 19-20. THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS 23 COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO. BEGINNING IN MARCH 2020 DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, THE FOOD DEPOT BEGAN PROVIDING THREE LARGE MOBILE FOOD PANTRIES - DRIVE THROUGH DISTRIBUTIONS - TO PEOPLE IN NEED IN SANTA FE AND RIO ARRIBA COUNTIES DUE TO PARTNER AGENCY CLOSURES.
