What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? ORIGINALLY ORGANIZED AS A SAILING CLUB, DLYC HAS BROADENED ITS PURPOSE TO INCLUDE FOUR BASIC AREAS OF INTEREST: SAILING, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, LAKE PRESERVATION AND SOCIAL LIFE.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 OPERATED A BOATING FACILITY AND HOSTED BOATING EVENTS FOR ITS MEMBERS DURING THE 2019 SEASON. THE CLUB'S FOCUS DURING THE PAST YEAR HAS BEEN ON IMPROVING THE YOUTH SAILING PROGRAM. TO THAT END SIX (6) OPTI SAILBOATS WERE PURCHASED TO BROADEN THE YOUTH LEARN TO SAIL PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, A 420' SAILBOAT WAS PURCHASED TO ADVANCE THE SKILLS OF HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE AGE SAILORS. A NEW ZODIAC CRAFT WAS ALSO PURCHASED TO AID THE INSTRUCTORS' ABILITY TO SUPERVISE THE PROGRAM. THE SAILING INSTRUCTION PROGRAM WAS INCREASED TO 4 ONE-WEEK INSTRUCTION SESSIONS WHICH ENABLED 42 YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM. THE DOCK SPACE WAS ALSO ENLARGED TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CLUB'S FLEET. TEN ADULT SAILORS AND SERVERAL YOUTHS PARTICIPATED IN SAILING RACES AND THE ANNUAL DLYC REGATTA.
