What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Promote fairer public policies toward low-income Alabamians.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Alabama Arise Action members supported the passage of bills to make civil courts more accessible for low-income Alabamians, and the creation of a database to track civil asset forfeitures. Arise members worked to defeat bills attacking safety net programs including SNAP, WIC, TANF and Medicaid, and defeated a proposed Medicaid work requirement. Arise worked to increase funding for health care, housing and transportation, and supported bills to untax groceries and reform Alabama's criminal justice system.
