| FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION | PROVIDE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR VICTIMS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. OUR PROGRAM COMBINES GROUP, INDIVIDUAL, AND FAMILY THERAPY TO HEAL THE TRAUMA OF SEXUAL ABUSE. OUR MISSION IS TO: - REPAIR THE DAMANGE DONE TO VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES; - REDUCE THE RISK OF RE-VICTIMIZATION; AND, - PREVENT THE CYCLE OF ABUSE FROM CARRYING OVER TO FUTURE GENERATIONS. |
| FORM 990, PART III | WE WORKED HARD TO MOVE CHILDSAFE TO A POSITION OF IMPROVED FINANCIAL VIABILITY. WE SOUGHT OUT AND WERE APPROVED FOR TRADITIONAL, MARKET-RATE FINANCING OF OUR BUILDING WHICH REDUCED OUR MORTGAGE INTEREST RATE BY MORE THAN 50% AND ELIMINATED ANNUAL BALLOON PAYMENTS TO OUR PRIVATE INVESTOR. THE REDUCED OUR OVERHEAD LIABILITY BY APPROXIMATELY 70,000 PER YEAR. WE PRESENTED CHILDSAFE TO MORE FOUNDATIONS THAN WE EVER HAVE IN A FISCAL YEAR AND GREW OUR DONOR BASE. ON DECEMBER 31, 2019, WE WERE APPROVED BY THE STATE OF COLORADO TO PROVIDE THE COLORADO CHILD CARE TAX CREDIT TO DONORS GOING FORWARD BECAUSE OF THE UNCOMPENSATED CHILD CARE WE MAKE AVAILABLE TO CLIENT FAMILIES TO FACILITATE INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY THERAPY SESSIONS AND OUR GROWING PARENTING CLASSES AND PARENTAL COACHING SESSIONS. THIS APPROVAL ALLOWS US TO RETURN 50% OF A DONATION IN THE FORM OF A TAX CREDIT TO COLORADO DONORS. WE SECURED A 50,000 LINE OF CREDIT FROM GREAT WESTERN BANK TO ADD A FINANCIAL SAFETY NET TO CHILDSAFE'S OPERATIONS. ALL OF THESE CHANGES ADD UP TO PUTTING CHILDSAFE ON A PATH OF RENEWED SUSTAINABILITY AND IMPROVED FINANCIAL POSITION IN 2019. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A | CSATP - CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAM WE SERVED MORE INDIVIDUALS IN A SINGLE YEAR THAN WE EVER HAVE IN OUR 34 YEAR HISTORY. ALMOST 100 MORE CLIENTS THAN IN 2018. IN FACT, THE DEMAND FOR OUR SERVICES HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED IN THE LAST TEN YEARS. WE ATTRIBUTE THIS DEMAND TO THREE THINGS: RAPID POPULATION GROWTH IN OUR REGION, MORE PEOPLE FINDING US THROUGH OUR ESTABLISHED, FAR-REACHING REFERRAL NETWORK AND AN IMPROVED LEVEL OF VISIBILITY. A RECORD NUMBER OF PEOPLE CAME TO US TO ADDRESS THE CHILDHOOD TRAUMA THAT HOLDS THEM BACK FROM LIVING THEIR FULLEST, HEALTHIEST LIFE. AND AS WE HAVE SINCE 1986, WE WERE HERE TO HELP. IN 2019, CHILDSAFE TREATED 638 INDIVIDUALS IN OUR CSATP OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM. WE SERVE VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE (PRIMARILY SEXUAL ABUSE), AGES 2-18, AND THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGH A COMBINATION OF GROUP, INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY THERAPY TO HELP FOSTER RESILIENCE AND HEAL THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY ABUSE. AFTER A THOROUGH ASSESSMENT, OUR HIGHLY TRAINED THERAPISTS, WITH INPUT FROM OUR CLIENTS, DEVELOP TREATMENT PLANS FOR THE WORK THEY WILL DO TOGETHER. OUR TREATMENT APPROACH IS TRAUMA-INFORMED AND CAN INCLUDE PLAY, ART, SAND, AND MUSIC, AS WELL AS TF-CBT, TALK, EMDR, NEUROFEEDBACK, AND OTHER HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUES. FAMILY THERAPY IS CONDUCTED TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION AND TRUST AND HEAL ATTACHMENT WOUNDS. THROUGH GROUP THERAPY, CLIENTS LEARN THAT THEY ARE NOT ALONE IN THEIR STRUGGLES AND CAN FACE THEIR CHALLENGES AND LEARN TO THRIVE WITH THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF THEIR PEERS. IN 2019, WE TAUGHT 68 CAREGIVERS TRAUMA-INFORMED PARENTING CLASSES TO GIVE THEM THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO FACE THE CHALLENGES OF RAISING TRAUMATIZED CHILDREN AND TEENS. OUR CLINICIANS PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY FOR CLIENTS GOING THROUGH THE COURT SYSTEM AND CONNECT FAMILIES WITH REFERRALS FOR ACCESSING HELP WITH BASIC NEEDS. WE TURNED NO ONE AWAY DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY FOR SERVICES. CHILDSAFE IS A RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE MDT (MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM) IN OUR COMMUNITY, RESPONDING TO CASES OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT. OUR CLINICIANS PROVIDE VITAL TRAINING AND CONSULTATION TO AREA PROFESSIONALS REGARDING THE MYRIAD ISSUES FACING VICTIMS OF ABUSE AND HOW TO RESPOND IN AN EFFECTIVE AND TRAUMA-INFORMED MANNER. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4B | AMAC - THERAPY FOR ADULTS MOLESTED AS CHILDREN IN 2019, WE TREATED 86 INDIVIDUALS IN THE AVAC PROGRAM, WHICH SERVES ADULTS OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED CHILDHOOD ABUSE, PRIMARILY CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMS ARE AT RISK OF PSYCHOLOGICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, AND PHYSICAL PROBLEMS THAT CAN LAST INTO ADULTHOOD. OUR COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR WOMEN AND MEN WHO WERE ABUSED AS CHILDREN AND TEENS. WE TREAT THE SURVIVOR, AS WELL AS THEIR SUPPORTIVE FAMILY MEMBERS. THE RIPPLE EFFECTS OF ABUSE CAN IMPACT EVERYONE IN THE SURVIVOR'S ORBIT AND CHILDSAFE OFFERS OUR FULL RANGE OF SERVICES TO HELP THESE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES HEAL AND THRIVE. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THE CAREGIVERS OF CHILD VICTIMS TO HAVE THEIR OWN HISTORY OF CHILDHOOD ABUSE. WE ARE HERE TO HELP HEAL THOSE WOUNDS WITH COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES THROUGH A COMBINATION OF GROUP, INDIVIDUAL, AND FAMILY THERAPY. SO OFTEN, ADULT SURVIVORS LIVE FOR YEARS CARRYING AN AWFUL SECRET, AND HAVING A SKILLED THERAPIST AND A GROUP OF OTHER SURVIVORS TO MEET WITH, CAN BE A LIFESAVER. |
