What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? In the spirit of service, not self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

Explanation:
The organization paused operations from March 2018 to March 2019. When operations resumed in 2019, a different treasurer was elected. This treasurer failed to file the 2017 tax return as required, although she represented to the officers that the return had been filed. In November 2019, a new treasurer was elected to replace her. This treasurer began reviewing financial records and discovered the unfiled return. Since the discovery of the unfiled taxes, the officers and current treasurer have been working diligently to gather all of the necessary financial information and come into compliance.
